Scott Benedict

Scott currently utilizes his experience to enable consumer brands to win online through his role as the Vice President of Partnerships at WhyteSpyder, an Ascential Digital Commerce company. Scott’s current focus is on bringing the powerful technology and human expertise of his firm to benefit their clients through other members of the Ascential Digital family, bringing their awesome capabilities to bear for WhyteSpyder’s clients, and selectively partnering with other outside firms to help WhyteSpyder’s clients to be successful online.

In addition to his role at WhyteSpyder, Scott is the founder and CEO of Benedict Enterprises LLC, a retail consultancy and business holding company, bringing together internal expertise gained from over 35 years in retail merchandising, eCommerce and new business development with the capabilities of external partner firms to deliver profitable value to consumer brand manufacturers, eCommerce and retail-related service providers and retailers of all sizes.

Scott spent a large portion of his career within Walmart and was a member of the founding team that started Walmart.com in the late 1990s. Scott spent the majority of his Walmart career in the Sam’s Club division in a number of merchandising, eCommerce, and membership roles. In addition to Walmart, Scott has held positions at Best Buy, Service Merchandise, Montgomery Ward, and Groupon, and most recently as an Executive Professor and the Director of the Center for Retail Studies at Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School.

Scott attained his Bachelor of Science degree in Media & Communications from Arkansas State University and has also taken 15 credit hours of MBA coursework at Webster University. As a seasoned panelist and speaker, Scott has served on a judging panel for the Walton MBA Case Competition at the University of Arkansas, spoke at the US Chamber of Commerce Small Business Summit, and served as the first moderator for the Greater Bentonville Chamber of Commerce WalStreet Speaker Series. He has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Arkansas’ Walton School of Business and I previously sat on the advisory boards of the Texas Retailers Association and the Dallas/Fort Worth Retail Executives Association.
